‘Paul Taggart’s Elphen Chronicles’ is a truly collaborative portfolio-project, in every sense of the word, brought about by Sunita’s unwavering belief in all of my work as a Fine Artist and Author. Her professional commitment and personal friendship, has enabled my life-long partner Eileen and I to realise this multi-media project, in all its forms.
As our fellow collaborator and partner in The Three Quills, Sunita’s beautiful and original work as Design Director has cast its creative spell on everything Elphen – from the ‘Paul Taggart’s Elphen Chronicles’ logo to the design for the books, ‘Webstrand, the Tooth Gatherer’ and ‘The Paintbox Tales’ - which, in turn, inspired the concept and design of the Video-Storybook editions.
Colour-your-Own greetings cards, the upcoming Concept Music Album, my unique Elphen waistcoat and the many other works-in-progress all owe their design origins to Sunita’s creative concepts, expertise and professionalism.

Sunita Gahir – Book & Graphic Designer, Producer

Sunita Gahir’s artistic soul lies in a passionate belief that good design enhances our surroundings and the everyday items in our lives. This governs her approach to the selective projects in which she takes a personal interest; most particularly the design and production of highly illustrated books.
Amongst the countless projects on which she has worked with well-established publishers, is the seminal opus ‘The Staffordshire Hoard, An Anglo-Saxon Treasure’. First published in 2019 by the Society of Antiquaries of London; Sunita was commissioned to single-handedly produce this award-nominated volume, from concept and design, through to the pre-press stage. Her ‘art’ for designing highly illustrated books came into its own when tasked with transforming this ‘academic’ subject into a sumptuous reference book. Ultimately weighing in at 2,836g – almost exactly half the weight of the hoard itself – the hard-back First Edition represents her passion for every element that is given due consideration when putting together a book – from the selection of fonts, to the layout of paragraphs, from the treatment of diagrams to the preparation of illustrations and photographs, all given meticulous attention, from initial concept to the finished tome.
Paul Taggart’s Elphen Chronicles is another such ‘legacy’ project; one that Sunita holds dear-to-her-heart. Having worked with Paul Taggart for over 20 years, involved in the design and publication of eleven, of his thirteen, painting tutorial books; Sunita has subsequently focused her passion on Paul’s long-held desire to chronicle further tales of the Elphen.
