Blog Post #1 of 2 - October 2026 - EXCLUSIVE OFFER - Paul Taggart’s On-the-Spot Paintings at Music Sessions & Events

“Every artist will tell you of the artworks that they want to hang onto; pieces that mean something to them, which they are reluctant to part with. I am no exception, or rather, should I say, Eileen and I, are no exception. Our dining-room walls are covered in paintings that represent collections that have come off my easel over the years and we politely let interested collectors know that these are ‘Eileen’s private collection’.”
"A number of these ‘reserved’ pieces are also to be found on the walls of our private studio walls; amongst them a unique piece that represents a rather special period.”
What is it that makes this collection utterly unique? Quite simply, the unpredictability of the ‘events’ – for as with all ‘open’ sessions, there is no way of knowing how many will attend, what instruments they will be playing and for how long the session will last (they can go on for hours!).
"I tend to work in Collections; collections that 'tell a story', in pictures - which you will find as you browse through my main Original Masterworks and Limited-Edition Prints galleries. Traditional techniques form the bedrock of my painting method and working with oils for my Collectors Masterworks allows me to create rich and exciting works of art – seemingly three-dimensional spaces filled with light, space, mood and movement. My goal - to capture the very essence of a moment in time – one that will evoke a memory, or an emotional reaction.”
I also enjoy the art of story-telling through on-the-spot paintings, as depicted in this unique collection.
What is it that makes this collection so memorable? Quite simply, the fact that every on-the-spot painting captures a session that is unique to that day – the character of every session being unique in-of-itself. Unique in the tunes that are played, how they are interpreted, how they flow through from one to another – everything is driven by the various musicians that are in attendance, the instruments they are playing; whether they are familiar with the tunes, or following the tunes for the first time. Traditional sessions are not pre-determined; there is no list of tunes, no running order, no determining who can, or cannot join in, no judgement of capability.
What is it that makes each artwork in this collection unique? Quite simply, the fact that most of those musicians depicted in each artwork has signed the finished painting alongside their position within the composition – thus sharing their contribution to the day’s event in the most personal of ways.
"We thank you for reading our latest news and for your continued interest in our work and, as ever, send best wishes, from Eileen and myself,”
