Not long after this surreal sunset in late Autum, we experienced the most amazing display of Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) and I felt that only the intensity of pigments available in soft pastels would do this justice - whilst at the same time allowing me to capture the subtle darks in the houses of the village silhouetted against the illuminated sky. Several layers of applied pastel were required to capture this extraordinary scene.

PASTEL PAINTINGS

Regrettably, due to the delicate nature of this medium, pastel paintings can only be delivered personally to certain parts of the UK or collected by the purchaser from a mutually convenient address. To prevent damage they are also supplied fully framed and mounted behind glass.
